Veterinary Care Assistant – Basildon Pitsea Hospital

About Us
Our 24-hour hospital in Basildon Pitsea is purpose-built and recently expanded to include MRI, hydrotherapy, orthopaedics, and exotic patient care, alongside our CT scanner, theatres, and hospital wards. We’re dedicated to providing exceptional clinical care while supporting and developing our team. Our growing clinical team currently consists of 14 vets, 23 nurses, and 11 VCAs.
Your Role
As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the hospital and providing the best possible care to our patients. Your duties will include:
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in clinical areas
- Greeting clients, answering calls, and processing payments
- Preparing, packaging, and sterilising instruments and equipment
- Assisting with the care of inpatients & surgical patients (walking, feeding, monitoring)
- Supporting vets and nurses during consultations and dispensary processes
- Processing lab samples for external analysis and running in-house tests
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a full-time team member to work 40 hours per week, which includes:
- 4 weekday shifts (12:30 pm – 10:00 pm)
- 1 in 4 weekends (Saturday & Sunday, 11:30 am – 8:00 pm)
