Junior Data Engineer

We are now seeking a junior data engineer to support the next phase of our digital transformation.

To achieve our mission of "creating the future of media", we recognise the pivotal role of data and are committed to enhancing our Data Engineering capability.

This role requires a basic grasp of data engineering, software engineering and technology, coupled with strong communication skills and a keen desire to solve problems and learn new skills.

The role would be most suitable for those who came from a software engineering background, with a penchant for data.

As a Junior Data Engineer in the Data and BI team, you'll support the development of data solutions that enable both internal teams (e.g., marketing, sales, finance) and external stakeholders (e.g., advertising agencies, brands, digital site landlords), helping to shape the future direction of our business.

You will be based in our London office, and you'll collaborate with regional offices in the UK and Europe.

Responsibilities:

Understanding Needs: You will gain a deep understanding of specific business challenges and work alongside senior engineers to design and implement effective data solutions.

Architecture and Design: Begin to develop a basic understanding of clean architecture design, optimisations, and best practices.

Build, Test, Deploy: Gain experience with version control (git), dependency management and virtual environments (pip, venv, pyenv, hatch), python basics, python classes, pyspark and SQL.

Engineering Practices: Support best engineering practices, contributing to continuous improvement across the team and learning agile and DevOps methodologies.

Collaboration: Work closely with other teams involved in data creation or consumption to support seamless end-to-end data solutions.
