The Assurance Lead is a crucial position in our Business Assurance and Risk team, auditing various parts of the business and operations (UK only), harnessing a deep understanding of business strategy, control frameworks and risk. 
About the role:
 
We have an exciting opportunity available for an Electrical Design Coordinator.  This role will be based within the National Gas Construction department.

This role will have end to end accountability for the definition, design, delivery, and close out of electrical investment projects, ensuring that delivery of projects meet all safety, environmental, technical, quality, functional, financial, and regulatory requirements.

The primary role is to deliver capital projects within time, cost, and quality governance requirements and to ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental issues are managed throughout the project.

The role is flexible but with an expectation to attend operational sites, so a current full UK driving licence is expected.
What we're looking for:
 
Essential:
 
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering 
  • Experience in electrical engineering including the electrical system design requirements of and relevant British and International Standards applicable to: 
  • High Voltage & Low Voltage Switchgear (including MCCs)
  • Transformers
  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies and Battery Chargers
  • Standby Generators 
  • Lighting Systems inc. emergency lighting 
  • Earthing and Lightning Protection 
  • Motors
  • Knowledge and understanding of BS 7671 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the DSEAR Regulations and hazardous area protection concepts for certified electrical equipment 
  • Experience with Design Management in Construction and understanding of Project Management processes 
  • Understanding and experience of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and practices and policies. Understanding and experience of CDM, Electricity at Work Regulations, Design Management, Safety Management and Environment Management systems. 
  • Full UK driving licence 
 
Desirable:
 
  • C&G 2396 – Low Voltage Design, Erection and Verification
  • Compex Ex12 – Ex equipment Design, Erection and Verification
  • BS 7671 Inspection and Testing Experience / Qualification(s) / Training (e.g. C&G 2391-52)
  • Chartered Engineer or working toward obtaining Chartered status
  • Key Accountabilities 
  • Your key accountabilities will include:
  • Lead on Design Management activities, ensuring designs are compliant with National Gas Technical Specifications and are undertaken in accordance with the National Gas change management process (the G/35 process)
  • Undertake site surveys to establish where electrical investments are required and produce the associated technical scope documents.
  • Undertake Design Reviews of Contractor design submissions to validate that these meet the National Gas Scope and Specifications 
  • Ensure Quality Management processes are followed throughout the design and delivery of projects 
  • Attend factory and site inspection visits & testing activities and support the review of associated documentation 
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a collaborative team environment. 
  • Support site commissioning activities. 
  • Support the close out of electrical projects including the review of red lined drawings and asset data updates.
