The Assurance Lead is a crucial position in our Business Assurance and Risk team, auditing various parts of the business and operations (UK only), harnessing a deep understanding of business strategy, control frameworks and risk.
About the role:
The Lead Estimator will be responsible for developing detailed and accurate project cost estimates, collaborating closely with project teams to define project scopes, and identifying any information gaps essential for precise cost estimation. This role requires proactive engagement with stakeholders to gather necessary data, challenge assumptions, and ensure all estimates align with company standards and project requirements.
What we're looking for:
Essential experience:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed analytical estimates from first principles within defined timescales for a wide range of projects.
- Scope Definition: Collaborate with project teams to establish project scopes and identify gaps in available information critical for cost estimation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary data, discuss project requirements, and address any estimation-related concerns.
- Risk Assessment: Participate in risk workshops to identify potential project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates.
- Technical Drawings and Specifications: Ability to read, and interpret engineering drawings, and technical documents, such as schematic diagrams, P&IDs, GA drawings, and material take-offs.
- Process Improvement: Update and refine estimation processes and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency continually.
- Documentation: Ensure all estimates are well-documented, with clear assumptions and methodologies, and obtain necessary governance reviews and signoffs.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: Proven experience in project cost estimation, preferably within the utilities, gas construction industry or energy industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and cost information accurately.
- Project Management Knowledge: Understanding of project management principles and the project lifecycle.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and accuracy in estimations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of liaising effectively with various stakeholders.
