Job Overview:
Newham Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Family Support and Safeguarding (FSS) Service. This service consists of four departments and sixteen teams, providing early intervention, assessment, and longer-term support for families. The role involves case-holding responsibilities and duty work every 1 in 16 weeks, offering an excellent CPD opportunity for social workers experienced in long-term intervention.

Key Responsibilities:
Hold a caseload of complex child protection (CP), Child in Need (CiN), and safeguarding cases.
Work directly with children and families, ensuring interventions meet their needs.
Support families from the first point of contact through to a safe resolution.
Conduct assessments, planning, interventions, and reviews under the Children Act 1989.
Provide supervision and mentoring to less experienced colleagues, NQSWs, and students.
Ensure timely and effective referrals to appropriate partner agencies.
Work with children affected by disability or SEND, ensuring tailored support is provided.
Collaborate with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children.
What We're Looking For:
? Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
? Strong experience in Child Protection (CP), Child in Need (CiN), and Safeguarding.
? Ability to work relationally with families and focus on positive outcomes for children.
? Experience working with disability or SEND is desirable.
? Passionate about tackling disproportionality and promoting inclusivity in social work.
? Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in children's social care.
? Experience with court work is beneficial but not essential (court cases are transferred to the Children in Care service).

Why Join Newham?
? Opportunity for line management and mentoring experience.
? Less frequent duty work (1 week in 16).
? Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and Fairer Newham initiatives.
? Supportive team with access to CPD and career development opportunities.
