Design Manager

We're looking for a Design Manager to join our Anglian Water team based in the East Anglia region

Location: Can be based within the East Anglia Region- Norfolk/ Northamptonshire/ Lincolnshire- mixture of office and travelling to various sites within the region, and home working

Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

In this role you will be working on the Integrated Maintenance, Repair and Development Services (IMRDS) alliance. The team maintain the water supply systems, repairs emergencies like water bursts and develops new ways to better service customers. 

What will you be responsible for?

As a Design Manager, you'll be working within the Capital main laying team, who are committed to delivering high-quality, efficient solutions for critical infrastructure projects.

You will lead the design for both in-house teams, remote design partners, and external design consultancies. You will be fully responsible for all aspects of design across the relevant portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timescales and meet both commercial and technical requirements.

In addition to your leadership duties, you will be responsible for CDM Principal Designer duties under the delegation of the Design & Engineering Manager. You will ensure compliance with Totex Delivery Process, New Roads & Streetworks Act 1991 and other relevant regulations.

Your day to day will include:

• Lead and oversee the design process for the main laying portfolio, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards
• Allocate design resources, maintain close liaison with utilities teams, and coordinate efforts with the modelling team
• Champion the digital development of infrastructure designs, promoting the use of 3D models
• Ensure all design work adheres to required standards and specifications, coordinating with internal stakeholders as needed

What are we looking for?

This role of Design Manager is great for you if you hold:

• Engineering degree or HNC/ HND in Engineering
• Extensive experience in a similar technical role, managing designs and multi-disciplinary projects
• Excellent leadership skills to inspire and support others in achieving critical tasks
• Ability to collaborate effectively and demonstrate clear judgement and decision-making
• Good prioritisation and planning skills and strong customer focus
• Experience in coaching, mentoring and developing team members
• Full driving licence
