Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT), a critical service providing out-of-hours cover for North Yorkshire Council and the City of York. Based at County Hall, Northallerton, this role operates countywide, ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and adults outside standard working hours.

As a qualified and registered Social Worker, you will manage urgent and complex cases, applying strong risk assessment and decision-making skills to safeguard individuals until the next working day.

Key Responsibilities:
Respond to out-of-hours referrals, ensuring timely intervention to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
Work with children, adults, and families, handling urgent situations requiring statutory social care intervention.
Undertake Mental Health Act assessments and other statutory duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including police, health professionals, and emergency services.
Make robust risk assessments and implement effective safety plans.
Maintain detailed case records in line with legal and service requirements.

Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
AMHP qualification (essential).
Extensive experience in statutory social work, including safeguarding, crisis intervention, and mental health assessments.
Strong ability to manage high-pressure situations and make sound decisions quickly.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across North Yorkshire and York.
