Barnsley - QSW - Initial Response Team £35PH

Job Description

We are seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join Barnsley's Initial Response Team in Adult Social Care. In this role, you will screen safeguarding referrals and make timely decisions in line with the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. You will also be part of a rapid response service that conducts face-to-face visits when required, assessing the needs and risks of adults who are experiencing-or at risk of-abuse or neglect, and providing appropriate advice and support.

Additionally, you will triage incoming work to Adult Social Care, ensuring referrals are directed to the most suitable service or team. The role involves close collaboration with South Yorkshire Police, including reviewing DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking, and Harassment) and Vulnerable Adults referrals.

Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding & Screening
Evaluate and prioritize safeguarding referrals, making informed decisions under relevant legislation.
Rapid Response
Undertake in-person visits to assess risks and needs provide immediate support and guidance.
Triage & Referral Management
Direct incoming work to the appropriate services or teams within Adult Social Care.
Collaborative Working
Work closely with South Yorkshire Police and other agencies, reviewing relevant referrals and ensuring coordinated responses.
Legislative Compliance
Ensure all actions and decisions adhere to the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant statutes.

Contract Details
Duration: 3 months initially, with the potential for extension based on service needs.
Location: Town centre office in Barnsley, covering the entire Barnsley borough.
