Senior Design Manager - EMEA Projects

Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Design Manager to oversee technical coordination and delivery of high-quality data centre projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This pivotal role involves managing multidisciplinary consultant teams, implementing design standards, and ensuring alignment with project goals related to technical excellence, budgets, schedules, and safety.

About the Role:
The Senior Design Manager will lead the setup and delivery of data centre design projects, coordinating internal and external stakeholders while maintaining adherence to industry-leading design guidelines. This position requires a technical background in CSA or MEP disciplines, coupled with construction management expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage design consultants, ensuring project objectives align with technical standards and timelines.
  • Develop and present project designs, schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Monitor compliance with design standards and address design deviations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align design with construction and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure all technical documentation and reports meet project and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee design-related cost and schedule impacts, working closely with project managers and quantity surveyors.
  • Facilitate design change control and continuous improvement processes.

Skills & Experience:

  • 3-10 years of experience in mission-critical or highly serviced building design, preferably data centres.
  • Proficiency in managing multidisciplinary design projects and aligning with gating processes.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical challenges to diverse audiences.
  • Expertise in design tools such as BIM and REVIT is advantageous.
  • Ability to navigate technical and stakeholder challenges in high-pressure environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or related fields; equivalent experience considered.
  • Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
