1. OUTLINE
A successful Apprentice Commissioning Engineer will need to be motivated, have attention to detail and take pride in their work. You will require a willingness to learn and train towards taking ownership and responsibility of projects, and to work well with other people around you, building and managing relationships.
Technical Skills You will be required to have:
I. An interest in engineering, particularly in Fire, Emergency and Security systems.
II. A minimum of 5 GCSE grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), ideally in Math’s and Science.
III. A working knowledge of Microsoft packages; Outlook, Excel, and Word. IV. Good written and communication skills.
V. Able to commute in and around London, for both sitework and college. Any previous engineering experience is beneficial, continued training is offered and will be provided to the right candidate.
2. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of Apprentice Commissioning Engineer is to attend sites and college to train and learn the install, commissioning and maintenance of Fire, emergency and security systems.
An Apprentice Commissioning Engineer is expected to maintain the company’s standard of work in all duties. Overview of work stream and roles undertaken:
1. Training to learn install, commissioning and maintenance of Fire, emergency and security systems – shadowing a mentor on site and attending college for a 3-year apprenticeship FESS course (Fire, emergency and security systems technician)
2. Under supervision, installing, commissioning and maintaining appropriate equipment.
3. Adhering to safe working practices and taking instruction.
4. Using tools, lifting, carrying and climbing ladders.
5. All your site activities will be client facing and as a result you are our representative to the client. At all times you will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and manner, be punctual, helpful, and courteous to clients and colleagues.
