Chelsea Technologies, a market-leading company specializing in environmental sensor design and manufacturing, is seeking a dedicated Quality & HSE Manager. Operating across diverse sectors, including Naval Defence, Maritime, and Marine Science & Technology, this role offers the opportunity to lead, develop, and maintain our Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) processes.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
- Oversee and administer the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with all new and existing legislation.
- Conduct internal audits and perform quality inspections across sites and projects.
- Advocate for quality best practices throughout the organization.
- Investigate complaints and non-conformances in collaboration with the Supply Chain Team.
- Assess suppliers and subcontractors to meet QMS requirements.
- Monitor budgets and drive continuous quality improvements.
- Manage corrective actions and non-conformity reporting processes.
Health & Safety
- Monitor workplace health and safety risks and hazards.
- Deliver QHSE inductions and training programs.
- Ensure contractors meet Quality and HSE requirements.
- Foster HSE awareness among employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Advise on risk minimization and avoidance strategies.
- Develop and review Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments.
- Investigate and report workplace accidents.
- Ensure legal compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Conduct workplace safety inspections and manage monitoring systems.
- Coordinate emergency procedures, including fire drills, and oversee emergency response teams.
Additional Standards
- Assess and implement standards such as ISO 13485, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications
- Essential: BSc (2:1) or higher in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Desirable: Certifications such as NEBOSH, COSHH, NGC, GC3, IOSH, First Aid at Work, Fire Warden, ESD, or ISO 9001 QMS internal auditing.
Skills & Experience
- Proven ability to drive quality improvement in a manufacturing setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of business operations and financial principles.
- Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication abilities with the capacity to inspire and guide teams.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate critical thinking.
Personal Qualities
The ideal candidate is self-motivated with strong management skills and a commitment to personal and professional development. A methodical approach, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
