Job description - the role

Our client, Deutsche Bank, is a global banking business with strong roots in Germany and operations in over 70 countries. Deutsche Bank offer their clients commercial and investment banking, retail banking and transaction banking as well as ground-breaking asset and wealth management products and services.

On behalf of Deutsche Bank, AMS are now looking for a MariaDB SME to work in their database team based in London (Hybrid) a PAYE basis.

We are seeking a highly skilled MariaDB Database Expert to join our dynamic team and contribute to our database management and optimization efforts. Your expertise in MariaDB's internal memory structures and architecture will be crucial in ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability of our database system. You will also be tasked with providing expert attention to a critical database that requires advanced troubleshooting and optimization

Key responsibilities:

• Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of MariaDB databases.
• Performance Optimization: Analyse and optimize database performance, focusing on memory structures such as the InnoDB buffer pool, query cache, and other relevant components.
• Architecture Design: Design and implement database architectures that align with business requirements and best practices.
• Replication and Clustering: Set up and manage replication (Master-Slave, Galera Cluster) to ensure data consistency and high availability.
• Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.
• Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including encryption, authentication, and access controls.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor database performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot problems to ensure optimal operation.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to support database-related needs and provide guidance on best practices.

Skills and Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of MariaDB internal memory structures (InnoDB buffer pool, query cache, etc.).
• Strong understanding of MariaDB architecture and storage engines (InnoDB, Aria, MyRocks, etc.).
• Experience with replication and clustering technologies (Master-Slave, Galera Cluster).
