An excellent opportunity has arisen for a keen gardener to join a beautiful private estate in Oxfordshire.

The existing team consists of a Head of Estates and Gardens and a skilled Gardener, they are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated team player to join them. The grounds consist of 10 acres, 4/5 acres of formal gardens, which are currently being redesigned and developed, so there are lots of exciting projects to be involved with. This role will be ideal for someone who is keen to further their horticultural development.

This is a family weekend home, the ethos centers around wildlife and ecologically friendly practices. There will be areas of the gardens that the candidate can take ownership of and really make it their own. The estate comprises of herbaceous borders, shrub beds, water features, extensive lawns, edibles production, a glasshouse, and a polytunnel with kitchen garden, a walled garden is currently being resigned.

Duties Include:

  • Formal and informal gardening
  • Garden maintenance
  • Lawn management
  • Care of water features
  • Garden development
  • Glasshouse propagation
  • Use of a wide range of tools and machinery
  • Occasional work around the wider estate i.e. fencing, feeding hens
  • Rewilding projects

This is the perfect role for a real outdoors person, come rain or shine wants to work in the gardens, it is a great environment and real team effort. A candidate who is at the start of their gardening career would be ideal, someone who is eager to learn and works well with others.
