What will you be responsible for?

As a SHE Advisor you'll be working within the Safety, health & Environment team, supporting them in Ensuring the highest possible standards of SHE responsibilities are implemented across the business, provide coaching and mentoring as required and check operations are fully supported on-site. The SHE advisor will ensure the local team and supply chain partners are delivering a consistent approach across Shropshire, making sure the SHE strategy is implemented and achieving full compliance against all legal requirements, client requirements and Kier Group safety health and environmental management system (SHEMS) standards.

Your day to day will include:

  • Leading and participating in regular meetings with operational staff, supply chain partners, clients and the contract management team, challenging the boundaries and common practices within the industry in turn improving standards throughout the business, working with the design and schemes teams to assist in implementing CDM duty holder roles, reviewing construction phase plans including supply chain risk assessments and method statements
  • Assisting the General manager, the Operations Manager and the Contract Manager and their teams, advising the management team on incidents and injuries, leading incident investigations and determining / eliminating the root cause, providing advice and support to the operational teams and supply chain partners on safety, health and environment issues
  • Maintaining and managing the companies ISO 45001 and 14001 accreditations, driving the trial and use of innovative products and techniques, ensuring premises meet legal / regulatory and Kier requirements, developing, driving and championing safety, health and environment campaigns
  • Supporting the company SHEA Director and the wider SHEA team across the business, continually developing the safety health and environmental management system
  • Managing and coordinating monthly SHE meetings with Kier staff, client teams and supply chain partners, collating and disseminating data on safety, health and environment performance for contribution to monthly, contract and other reporting requirements, undertaking site, depot and office health and safety inspections, promoting the businesses values and vision 2020

 

What are we looking for?

This role of SHE Advisor is great for you if:

  • You hold a Degree in Safety Health and Environmental Management or operational working experience of managing SHE on large construction sites and highways reactive maintenance contracts including the implementation of traffic and pedestrian management, temporary works, excavations and working around rail property
  • Have IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Safely and a NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Hold a driving licence and can drive
