Senior Contracts Engineer - Part Time (Nepal Hydropower Project)

We are looking for a Senior Contracts Engineer for major Hydropower Project in Nepal on a part-time basis.

The total number of man months is 16, distributed over 3 to 4 years. Therefore, we expect approx. 3 months input per year.

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

Located in the Middle of Nepal, the Hydropower Project represents the second and currently largest storage reservoir project in Nepal. ADB funded the T project has three main components:

  • a medium-sized hydropower plant of 140 MW (installed capacity) with significant water storage facilities and associated transmission lines to evacuate the generated power;
  • rural electrification and community development in the project area, and
  • a reform and restructuring plan for the national utility, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

Job Profile:

  • Minimum of 25 x years of heavy Civil Engineering experience
  • Civil Engineering Degree
  • At least 15 x years in Contracts Management of Construction Projects.
  • Must have 12 x years expert experience in Contracts & Claims of Hydro & Dam projects.
  • Fluency in English - Spoken & Written
  • Assist the Project Manager in operations and administration of the project to ensure timely availability of relevant information.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed on all matters that may be of importance to the
  • company including market situation and project's current performance and progress.
  • Assist Project Manager during the selection of contractors including manufacturers suppliers. Assist the PM in necessary procurement and contract management.
  • Liaise with relevant government agencies for permits, licenses and other matters for timely implement the project.
  • Maintain all the reporting requirements to all the stakeholders and assist the PM to prepare the reports.
  • Take a lead role in major procurements for the project, contract administration and project management and assist the PM in project controls.
  • Responsible to supervise and monitor the Head office and Site office Staffs working under engineering division and evaluate their performance and report to the PM.
  • Prepare regular and periodic progress reports, rate progress and devise time and cost control mechanism for the project.
  • Perform regular and periodic site visits and, organize & conduct meetings with consultant and other stakeholders as required.
  • Assist PM in decision making, prepare agenda, memos and its documentation.
  • Assist PM in organizing meetings and prepare the proceedings.
  • Prepare project correspondences and payment memos as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain the relevant documentation for payments to the Contractors, Suppliers and Consultants.
  • Ensure and assist PD that the project documents are complete, correct and documented appropriately.

The total number of man months is 16, distributed over 3 to 4 years. Therefore, we expect approx. 3 months input per year.

Project Location: Nepal/ Home Office

Start Date: ASAP (pending client approval)

Salary package: Negotiable
