Accounts, tax & Audit Supervisor or Assistant Manager - Medium Sized firm
Central London (50% hybrid)
£50,000 to £60,000

Butler Rose, public practice is delighted to be supporting our client, a prominent medium sized firm with fantastic offices based at a prestigious Central London address.

The practice operates as a 'General Practice' firm and so the role will incorporate accounts, tax, and audit with an approximate 70% accounts and tax, and 30% audit split.

Role Requirements -

Managing a truly diverse portfolio of clients from a range of industries and of varying T/O you will -

  • Produce technically accurate statutory accounts under FRS102-1A and ensure they are consistent with the prescribed firm's format, ready for partner / manager review.
  • Assume responsibility for junior staff, ensuring they deliver to agreed deadlines. Review the accounts produced by team members to ensure they are technically accurate and are to the firm's prescribed format.
  • Coordination and supervision of junior staff before and during monthly management accounts preparation in order to ensure efficient and timely production.
  • Review of bookkeeping assignments, making recommendations to clients in respect of set-up and migration of bookkeeping packages and systems.
  • Working under own initiative in order to assume responsibility for planning, fieldwork and finalisation of the audit, communicating with internal and external teams as necessary in order to deliver files compliant with international auditing standards within agreed deadlines.
  • Ability to design and supervise the work of juniors in order to ensure efficient undertaking of wholly appropriate audit tests, reviewing their work and setting an example whilst at client premises.
  • Timely completion of audit file following audit ensuring all follow up completed and management/partner review can be done effectively and efficiently.
  • Review of corporation tax returns and associated schedules ensuring they are accurate, tax planning strategies have been utilised, and the position is discussed and agreed with the client.
  • Working knowledge of relevant tax incentive schemes, such as EMI, SEIS, EIS, R&D etc. and ability to explain the benefits and drawbacks to clients in a concise and clear manner.
  • Review of personal and partnership returns and consideration of all possible reliefs available along with consideration of wider implications of tax legislation updates.

Person Requirements -

  • Newly ACA or ACCA qualified with at least 4+ years' experience working for a UK based general practice firm at a Senior/Supervisor level
  • Supervised junior members of staff to including reviewing and coaching.
  • Proven experience of managing a diverse client portfolio
