About us:
The Integrated Front Door comprises of a Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, an Early Help Assessment Team, Targeted family support teams, an edge of care team, 3 x family hubs and 5 x assessment teams. We are looking to appoint a team manager in assessment team 5. The assessment service, led by Toni Clifton, is made up of five assessment teams. Each team has 6 social workers and a family support worker. Teams are on duty for one week in five.
You will be working within a committed and supportive team, you will have a manageable workload and the opportunity to make a positive impact in shaping the lives of children and young people.

The role:
Whilst on duty, you will be responsible for ensuring that all children who need a social worker, are allocated a social worker. On your duty week you will be chairing strategy discussions, managing complex risk, dealing with crisis and allocating child and family assessments. Your role will include managing complex risk, challenging appropriately, ensuring that children are safe and happy and making timely, balanced decisions for children who are not. You will be responsible for recruitment, dealing with complaints, quality assurance and compliance. You will provide support for your workers, including 5 weekly supervision, workshops, weekly team meetings, group supervisions and informal case discussions. You will be making decisions about whether children require ongoing intervention based on information gathered during the assessment, whilst considering legislation, local authority procedure and threshold. Your role is to make sure that children who need intervention, have the level of support they need.

Key requirements:
You will have a Social Work Degree, and be registered with Social Worker England.
You will have substantial post qualifying experience in Children and Families Social Work.
You will have experience in assessment work and have a working knowledge of key legislation and regulations.
You will be passionate about Solihull children and committed to making their lives happier and safer.

Skills & experience:
You will have excellent supervisory skills, and the ability to be flexible in thinking and act decisively.
You will be able to develop creative solutions to complex problems and promote these abilities in others.
You will have the ability to support workers at all levels to focus on the needs of children and young people and put policy into practice consistently.
You will have excellent communication skills.

Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* At least 5 years' experience as a Social Worker within children's services
* Social Work England Registration
* Driving license and access to own vehicle
