Have you been looking for an opportunity not only to use your concept / solutions design experience in industrial automation, but also to get involved in project delivery?
Our client is one of the most established industrial automation solutions providers in Australia. With an impressive existing customer base of high-profile organisations and further strong pipeline of new work, they have created a further opportunity for an Application Engineer tube based in either Sydney or Melbourne.
Working under the close mentorship and with the support of the Head of Department, The Application Engineer will not only formulate concept designs and develop costing models for extensions, retrofits and modernisations of existing customer systems but remain involved in the project management of smaller scale projects. Specifically they will:
Design and Proposals:
* Collaborate with current customers to understand their needs
* Develop cost effective and customer-solution focused automation concepts in conjunction with internal engineering and delivery colleagues
* Assist with the development of customer proposals, including drafting descriptions of operation and technical specifications for proposals
* Provide design and engineering support, including estimating and drawing
* Lead automation project design and proposal reviews
* Prepare and assist in the delivery of effective sales presentations
* Optimise designs and pricing strategies
Project Delivery:
* Project planning
* Organisation of resources and equipment purchasing
* Establish and implement adequate project documentation,
* Take end-to-end responsibility for project progress from start to final project deliverable,
* Budget efficiently and be the single point of contact for each project items
About you
It is likely that you are already working in industrial automation, perhaps as a Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Concept Engineer or Sales Engineer similar. In addition to your Degree or diploma equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or applied science, you have strong CAD skills and an existing interest in project management. You also have/are:
* Prior experience in a solutions engineering or similar role
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments
* Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
* Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalise on market trends and opportunities
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
* Problem solver with strong attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and see projects through to completion
* Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
