Job Description

Location: Hybrid working (3days from the Hartlepool office and 2days from home)

This role is sits within the Entitlement Services Revenues and Benefits Team, supporting the delivery of our discount review services. The role is varied and combines customer service functions, including handling of incoming and outbound contact, as well as back-office administration to local authority databases and NEC systems. The role is fast-paced and will encompass multiple duties.  

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the team to deliver the necessary activities involved in the administration of these services. Full training, ongoing support and mentoring will be provided, and to develop your knowledge, there will be opportunities for you to work across our different services.  

Business Fundamentals: 

  • Maintain excellent levels of attendance and punctuality. 
  • Attend regular training and development sessions with an assigned mentor. 
  • Maintain excellent levels of attendance, punctuality and quality of work whilst undertaking NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (on site with Tutor). 
  • Ensure NEC’s policies and procedures are understood and adhered to. 
  • Work with a dedicated apprentice mentor who will support and develop you throughout your apprenticeship. 
  • Develop strong written and verbal communication and administrative skills whilst dealing with a range of internal and external stakeholders.   
  • A chance to become a well-rounded member of the team with training in the administration of Council Tax, customer service and any other initiatives aimed at supporting the needs of our local government partners, and NEC’s Entitlement Services portfolio.

Summary: 

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with a hard-working and proactive approach to work. The role requires an individual who can think outside the box, use their own initiative and effectively collaborate to drive success. This role will be based in our Hartlepool Business Centre and will operate between the hours of 9:00am and 17:00pm, Monday to Friday.  

Qualifications

  • 5 x GCSEs grade A-C, including English, Maths and Science. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Good keyboard skills. 
  • Microsoft Excel and Word. 
  • Building relationships and people skills.
  • Organisational skills to schedule daily / weekly / monthly workload.
  • Interest in working across a wide range of services, projects and programmes.  
  • Problem solving and multi-tasking. 
  • Willingness to learn. 
  • Able to give and receive feedback.  
  • The flexible nature of NEC’s work means that you may be required to work on other NEC service activities in ‘back office’ processing enquiries. 
  • Training on relevant systems, processes and procedures are included.
