About Us: Carbon X helps automotive industry and battery makers to break-free from China dominated supply chains. With our drop in-solution we guarantee continuous access to one of the most critical battery materials in Europe and in the US, for many years to come. As part of our technology roadmap, we are developing next generation products in three different tracks: fast charge, high energy density and 100% circularity. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Senior Battery Lab Technician to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success, supporting building and running our new lab. As a Senior Battery Lab Technician, you will play a key role in our research and development efforts by performing advanced testing and analysis on battery materials and systems. You will be responsible for building up the new lab, building battery cells & testing them, understanding the lab equipment and maintaining them and also performing quality control.

Responsibilities:

  1. Building our new lab from the ground up for the development and testing of a battery cell.
  2. Conduct advanced testing and analysis on battery materials, components, and systems using a variety of laboratory equipment and techniques.
  3. Perform quality control assessments to ensure the consistency and reliability of battery products.
  4. Building and testing batteries, specifically coin & pouch cells.
  5. Analyse data, report, and present information in an organised way and according to company standards.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, scientists, and researchers to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
  7. Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and facilities in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  8. Train and mentor junior lab technicians on laboratory techniques, procedures, and safety protocols.
  9. Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in the battery or energy storage industry.
  3. Proven expertise in performing various laboratory tests and analyses, including but not limited to electrochemical testing, thermal analysis, and microscopy techniques.
  4. Proficiency in building & testing coin and pouch cells.
  5. Knowledge of Slurry making processes and anode characterisation.
  6. Proficient in English (verbal and written).
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  8. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all work performed.
  9. Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience mentoring junior staff and coordinating laboratory activities.
