Buckinghamshire is Seeking Independent Reviewing Officer

Role Overview

  • To be responsible for ensuring adherence to Buckinghamshire policy and procedures promoting good practice in relation to children looked after in Buckinghamshire.
  • To be the allocated IRO for Looked after children, chairing all their statutory Reviews.
  • Monitor effectiveness of Care Plans for children by inspecting them at regular intervals and bring to the notice of the relevant manager any shortfalls in practice or resources.
  • ? Provide appropriate challenge to local authority planning for individual children according to the requirements of the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review regulations 2011 , and relevant government guidance.
  • Be a member of relevant multi-agency and internal Children's Services working groups, as required, chairing such groups where appropriate.
  • Contribute to training both for Children's Social Care staff, and staff from other Agencies and the voluntary sector as required.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of relevant performance management and information systems.
  • Collate and disseminate contemporary developments in research and practice issues to promote professional and public awareness of the vulnerability of children in public care.
  • Provide reports and statistical information pertinent to the service area, as required by the Head of Service for Quality Standards and Performance.
  • Undertake such work as may be determined by the Service Director from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the primary purpose of the job.
  • To be aware of all necessary quality standards and performance measures and to ensure that they are adhered to.
  • To be aware of the Council's aims, organisational values and behaviours and their impact on this post.
  • To participate in the Council's performance management processes.
  • To carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Council's diversity policy.
  • To carry out all duties and responsibilities with reasonable care for the health and safety of you and any other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions
