Tax Senior / Tax Manager

About The Firm:

Butler Rose are proud to be working with a top 100 firm based in Manchester City Centre who are looking for a Tax Senior or Tax Manager. This role is available due to sustained growth, the firm has experienced significant expansion over the past nine years, and pride themselves on maintaining a friendly and supportive work environment.

Your Role:

As a Tax Senior or Tax Manager, you will primarily support the GP team, servicing approximately 300 General Practitioners and 120 GP Practices. You will work collaboratively with various teams across the division, gaining exposure to a diverse range of individuals and businesses within the same sector. The role involves utilising your existing skills while learning from experienced professionals to provide essential advice to clients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of tax returns for individuals and partnerships, including reviewing work from other team members.
  • Support managers and senior team members in tasks related to client service, gradually taking a lead role as you gain confidence (would also consider someone who is already confident in leading tax advisory conversations)
  • Assist junior staff with their workflow, contributing to their progression and development.
  • Respond to ad-hoc client queries, liaising with specialists internally and externally for timely responses.
  • Participate in client meetings, eventually leading them as your knowledge and confidence grow.
  • Prepare internal and external materials on topical tax issues facing our clients, staying proactive in line with sector changes and UK legislation.

Required Skills:

  • 4 years or more of strong experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Previous experience with accounts production and tax software, preferably CCH.
  • Experience in client management, handling a portfolio of clients.
  • Previous experience supporting junior staff in both output and development.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
